Crowhurst Match Preview

(April 30, 2016)
Sidley United take on Crowhurst on Bank Holiday Monday as they go in search of the point that will see them win East Sussex Football League Division One.

Promotion was denied us this afternoon as both Eastbourne Rangers and Old Hastonians won but just a single point will be enough on Monday to clinch both promotion to the Premier Divison and the Division One title.

For Crowhurst it will be their third match in five days. They lost the Hastings FA Junior Cup Final to Old Hastonians 3 - 0 on Thursday night before going down 8 - 2 at Eastbourne Rangers this afternoon. Blues may well feel that those tough matches could show on Monday and that they might benefit from the extra rest that Sidley have had.

In fact Sidley have had a little over 2 weeks off action as our scheduled trip to Wadhurst United last weekend was called off as Wadhurst were unable to raise a side. Those 3 points took Blues top of the table but Rangers regained top spot with that victory over Crowhurst today, their final league match, meaning Blues require a point to make sure of the title.

Blues expect to be at full strength and no doubt hope to avoid a final day shootout against Old Hastonians on Saturday, who are waiting in the wings to pinch a promotion spot themselves should Sidley slip up.

Kick off at Hooe Rec is 3pm and again the club would be grateful for as many supporters as possible to come along and cheer on the boys to what could be a title triumph.
