Crowhurst Match Preview

(February 25, 2016)

Two teams having successful runs in the cups come face to face on Saturday as Sidley United take on Crowhurst in the Quarter Finals of the Hastings FA Junior Cup at Hooe Rec.

With both teams progressing to the semi finals of the Sussex FA Cup recently, only one can also take their place in the semi finals of this cup.

Crowhurst have been making good progress in cup competitions throughout this season and booked their place in this tie with a 3 - 2 win over J.C Tackleway. Last week however they were held to a 2 - 2 draw at Wadhurst United to leave them some distance off the top 3 in the league.

The two sides have met once this season when Sidley won the league encounter 3 - 1 with 2 late goals from Ashley Elphick and Arron Scrace sealing the win.

Sidley were without a game last week as our scheduled match against J.C Tackleway was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. Our last match saw us book our place in the semi finals of the Sussex FA Cup with a 3 - 1 win at Midway 1948.

Whilst cup football is notoriously difficult to predict, the winners of this tie would surely fancy their chances of going all the way in this competition and a chance to claim a piece of silverware. With the very real prospect of the two meeting in the Sussex FA Cup final, Saturday could also be a chance to strike a psychological blow.

The pitch is expected to be playable barring any heavy rain between now and Saturday. Kick off is 1.30pm with an outcome to be settled with extra time or penalties if needed.

Come along and cheer on the Blues to hopefully another semi final.
